Questions & Answers

Q: Where are you located?
A: Our team is based in the Houston, Texas area. We love road trips though.  We offer full photography services in the Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Victoria and Waco areas. We offer destination wedding services to the New York City and Louisiana areas.  We do not charge travel fees to these cities.

Q: Who the heck are you guys?
A: Blue Media Works is owned by John & Corie Squyres. Our business consist of 3 photographers and one editor.

Q: Do you contract out to other photographers?
A:  No We are a team of 3 photographers.

Q: Why do you only require a $99 deposit with contract on your micro wedding packages?
A: We understand there are many up front cost when planning a wedding. We wanted to create a payment option that would benefit our customers. What’s better? Your final payment is due by the day of your event.

Q: What type of photographer are you guys?
A: We are on location photographers. We typically use natural light in an outdoor atmosphere. Indoors we use fill light using our Nikon SB600, SB800 and SB900 flashes. Unless we are shooting head shots, we typically do not photograph with backdrops or studio lights.

Q: Do you carry insurance?
A: You bet-cha we do!  We can provide this upon request.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

Q: How do I pay for my packages?
A: We accept online payments via Square. Once we receive a contract we typically email over an invoice that can be paid online.

Q: When is payment due?
A: For Weddings: A $99 or $499 deposit is due for Weddings to reserve your date. Your remainder portion is due the day of your event. We will email over invoices that can be paid online.
For Photo Shoots: Payment is due before or on your shoot date. We will email over an invoice that can be paid online.

Prints:
4”x6” prints: $4.99 each
5”x7” prints: $6.99each
8”x10” prints: $11.99 each

 

 

Q: Do you edit my photos before I see them?
A: Yes! We want your photos to be perfect.

Q: Will I receive a photo USB and the ability to print my photos at the vendor of my choice?
A: All packages include free digital download delivery.  Wedding packages include a photo USB. Our copyright grants you printing privileges.

Q: Are prints included in your packages?
A: Yes! A print credit is included in every package.

Q: About how many images will you capture?
A: We never limit ourselves on the number of images we capture. We don’t sell our services based on quantity. We use continuous shoot cameras in almost all instances. We typically shoot about 100-300 images per hour.

Q: What format do you you use to shoot images?
A: We can shoot in RAW or JPEG. Our default is RAW.

Q: Can I purchase more time if I need it?
A: Yes! You can add time to our photography packages.

Q: Do you have photography permits to shoot in NYC?
A: Yes! We carry a permit to shoot with the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting (MOFTB). We also carry photography permits with various parks including Battery ParkTop of the RockCentral ParkBattery Park CityBryant ParkMTANew York City Department of Parks & RecreationBrooklyn Bridge Park and Rockefeller Center.

Q: Can I meet you before booking you?
A: Of course you can! We would love to meet you over coffee at your local coffee shop. Give us a call or shoot us an email.

Q: How do I book one of your packages?
A: Booking is simple! Just fill out one of our contracts by visiting our Packages link. Select the Book Now! link next to the package you want to book. Once you have submitted your contract we will get in contact with you via your preferred method of contact.

Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: We recommend giving us at least 4 weeks in advance for photo shoots and at least 6 months in advance for weddings. We are always willing to accommodate last minute photo shoots. You can also check out our booking calendar to see if your date is available.

Q: What type of equipment do you use?
A: For photography we use Nikon equipment including: Z6ii, Z7ii, Z8, D200, D800, D8000 and a D3. We have a variety of lenses and flashes. All are professional grade equipment.

Q: Do you have back up equipment?
A: Yes!

Q: How do you store images and video?
A: Protecting your photos and video is important to us. We use the rule of 2. This means store images video at two different sites simultaneously.

Q: May I bring a couple of wardrobe changes to my photo shoot?
A: Of course you can! Our packages are based more on time. Just make sure your number of changes fit the time schedule.  Also check out our What To Wear Guides to help with your clothing coordination.

Q: Can I bring a friend with me to my session?
A: Yes, no problem at all.
